Cardinals Earn a Split

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Lowell Cardinals vs. the Riordan B’s (Freshmen team), the young Cardinals led just about the whole way, extending their lead to as many as 15 late in the third quarter, before a valiant comeback attempt by the Crusaders. 

 

The Cardinals were paced by the all-around performance Matthew K. (5pts 5rbs 2ast 1stl).

 

In the nightcap, the Crusaders size, depth and offensive execution gradually wore down the shorthanded Cardinals.  The game started off with Riordan taking an early lead, a lead they would never surrender. To their credit the Cardinals kept competing and found themselves down only 5 points at half time.

 

The Cardinals were led by ironmen, JT R. (9pts 2rbs 1stl) and Ian L. (6pts 4rbs 1ast), who played 28 minutes (full game) and 27 minutes respectively.

 

Next matchup is a home game this Thursday vs. Capuchino HS.
