The Lowell Tennis team kicked off its 2015 season with a visit to Pacifica to take on the Oceana Sharks. Playing on a bright, sunny afternoon, the Cardinals had no problem dismantling the undersized Oceana squad. Seniors Sam Tick-Raker (6-2, 7-5) and Hector Chu (6-4, 6-2) worked with sophomores Jarek Chu (6-1, 6-0) and Jack Ieong (6-2, 6-4) to conquer all of the singles matches. In doubles play, the senior duo of Brandon Lao/Joey Zhu (8-1) and sophomore-freshman team of James Sutton/Trevor Leong (6-0, 6-0) shut down the Sharks’ top doubles team. Senior Bob Wu and freshman Oak Gant, originally scheduled to play together, instead split up to play singles against the Sharks’ lone extra player, with both cruising to 8-0 victories to round out a perfect match for Lowell.
